This is a more formal, slightly more structured event than a World Cup.  Similar components but more distance and number of obstacles to be driven on the marathon.  Depending on the Schedule/Entry requirements, formal attire for the driver and groom (s) may be expected: hat, gloves, apron, smart dress, lamps on the carriage, etc.  The equines need to be clean, fit, presented well with appropriate fitting harness.

Typically dressage is performed first.  Competitors know before the event which test they will be expected to drive.

Depending on the venue, cones may be driven next.  This is a measured length, timed course between up to 20 sets of cones with balls balanced on top.  The idea is to check the equines’ fitness and the driver’s skill.  The width of gaps between the cones is dependent on the class entered and equine size.

Whatever the type of event spectators, helpers/stewards are always welcome.  Come, have a look and learn: become involved.  Training is always available.
